You Are Apocalypse
(A Poem-Prose written by Martin Eden on 09 January 2009)

The pieces of a broken pen
You are apocalypse
The stunted growth of pastures green
You’re a wanderer by nature
The most Polish of all her children
You are your mother’s son
And while your father tried to live your life vicariously
You managed to hold sway

Born of God’s playground
You know of nationalism, religion, greed and pain
One or more of the first three you place at the root of every war
The fourth then akin to Chopin’s [no pain like life]
Anxiety and its friend verbosity rule the day
A messiah in the making
Where all ask, ‘Who do you think you are?’
… Ah but just a kindly soul

The bag of ‘stuff’ that you carry
Your presenting problem
You could drop at any time
In the name of emotional intelligence
And those who look to you for guidance and for strength
Could find their own empowering way
Though it’s a navel gaze in danger of an ego
And you the brunt of it

And as Ms Bradley said [a Bard you must first be]
For music helps you get to where you can live to be
Nobody-but-yourself
At the eye of each and every storm

Pedestrian Observatory
(A Poem-Prose written by Martin Eden on 08 January 2009)

In a pedestrian observatory
He lives alone
Before him lies
Human evidentiary

All the birds his friends
The flight
The busyness
A mind at rest

To view the flowers
Along his way
Is to live his life
Every day

Natures, one and all

My Godmother
(A Poem-Prose written by Martin Eden on 03 January 2009)

I see her sit
The minimal self
Breathing
Reminiscing her usual life
Not quite knowing
Anything or anyone
Then a lucid moment
Where she passes on
What she knows

Her being is love
Was love
And still is
Despite the failing mind
A mind which served
A very long life
Of fierce independence
And now the end times
Flashes and sleep
Until the endless sleep
Her god not willing to take her
Despite her askings
There’s still more to be done
Wherein I felt called to find her
Then to come to her side

For a long time now
I’ve called her my real
Mother
The font of love
Which taught me love
And now I’m here
By her side
To give and not to take
To learn my old lessons
Of patience
Of silence
Of perseverance

And now she must sleep
A temporary sleep for now

Humility & Silence
(A Poem-Prose written by Martin Eden on 09 December 2008)

Tossed about on sexual seas
I ran aground at last
Where near all that was familiar once
Had vanished into haze

I stumbled on with broken heart
To where I woke again among suffocaters
Like a man possessed I drove them out
Till came the one to cure my heart

Through many years ensuing process drove me back as well as forward
My anger raged again and again against humility and silence
While all the time I fought and learnt and grew, and fought and learnt and grew
Till I could be myself in humility and in silence

Simplicity

(A Poem-Prose written by Martin Eden on 31 October 2008)

What do you see with alacrity
When the storm is deepest
And you tend to resign, spent
Is it the tempest Miranda brings
Your conscience fears
Or the Lady Shalott in her final hours

Perhaps it’s just your darkest side
Which suddenly feels at home
Where you relax and see into
mind’s eye without expression
A calm within unchanging
No thought, no fear, no inclination

Need you know or just realize
The protection of that very turmoil
A cacophony of endless sounds
In the outer of your outer circle
Where within, right at the centre
Self realizes it’s life source

simplicity

What’s Meant To Be
(A Poem-Prose written by Martin Eden on 21 & 22 October 2008)

It’s hard to understand what’s meant to be
That ache in the heart that wells into tear
The song that you hear

Stumbling out of the losses of what you knew well
Gathering the soul into the present once again
For what you feel is likely in vain

The sun warms your back as you play with the cat
So short is the moment that you cannot look back
For you know your essence is under attack
You’re comin’ undone

It’s hard to intercept what’s meant to be
The cornucopia of emotional dependencies
That guideth our way societally
In question only literally

While The…
(A Poem-Prose written by Martin Eden on 16 October 2008)

Into the abyss I climb
For the wind of free to vote
That abolished slavery once
How’d it ever come to be

Costly gathering masses
Far easier souless pandering
But those who see are disenchanted
And those who don’t stay disinclined

Who would bother with endless haul
Accommodating everyone
A populist sale of the very self
To do what one did mean to do

And what was that so lost
In the hype and mayhem
Epitomed as a hateful chant
That leaves a bitter taste

Be the one, the saviour be
While the…
