As Negativity
(A Poem-Prose written by Martin Eden on 19 April 2009)

What could go wrong
May not go wrong
In the happiness of life
And a square with rounded corners is still a square
Though it probably represents life’s cycle more accurately than a circle
And familiarity seems to bring on the sense of ageing, perhaps more so than change
So logi-rhythmic episodes recur

There’s movement and a certain thrust where people know their fate
Though no one knows exactly when they’ll die
While how is sometimes known and more often wished for

There’s a nature in the natural rhythm of positivity
And it’s often industry or the contributing from extending mind, largesse aside
Then life’s eternal, perhaps infernal, balance bangs against the door of timing
Sometimes opening sometimes closing it to flow
And it’s there the chime of frustration resonates the loudest
As negativity

You Are What You Need To Be
(A Poem-Prose written by Martin Eden on 17 April 2009)

There we hide in the interim cloud
Before we rain making tracks into life
Mixing with all we need to become whole
Though not quite the same as the other

The traces we leave as we evaporate back into cloud
Lend colour and character to a different whole
While the new cloud is yet another mix
Of the same essence-ial cycle

For to know is to have lived, till we forget
For I am only in passing
And the tracks that I leave will become traces
In the shifting colour and character of whole

A-flutter
(A Poem-Prose written by Martin Eden on 16Apr2009)

The clothes line a-flutters
A-flutters
A-flutters
Then a strong gust throws everything violently
Including the shadows
And back to a-flutter
A-flutter
A-flutter

The birds bask in the sun beneath the wind
Preening
Pecking at the grass
A-waiting
A-waiting
An autumnal feed from human hand

The sun gives out a mid-afternoon warmth
Inviting you into it
Reminding you, winter’s coming
Winter’s coming

Your thoughts are a -flutter
A-flutter
A-flutter

Distant Madonna
(A Poem-Prose written by Martin Eden on 12Apr2009)

There’s a real life madonna in the distant night
Etching out a life that she used to have
With a child in hand and a different man

She knows a kind of peace in her dynamism
With a dance and a pose geometrically cut into confined spaces
Where drapes and paint fashion a home

And there’s a zest for travel and the outdoor space
For all life has to offer despite the frowns
And a membership for recognition and hope

The child strikes a pose for the record with battered face
Not through violence but the expectation of a better place
And the hope that the man will stay on beyond the chase

There’s all in a life that happens here
The onslaught beyond time and fear
And a daytime for reality to fund it all

Cavalcade
(A Poem-Prose written by Martin Eden on 08April2009)

There is that Easter cavalcade
Of mourners emulating mourners
Troughing out for peak’s sake

A man was killed for challenging the system
And this a cause for celebrartion
For chocolate manufactureres

The modern would be martyr
Replete with cholesterol problem
Ends crucified to an operating table

Whereas in another place
They strap on bombs
And walk into crowded places

Fanaticism was as fanaticism is
Senseless waste of human life
Supposedly in the name of betterment

But the contest for power over others
Which it is, morphs into a moral code
To die rather than to live for, literally

And so we put it on a pedestal
Distorting it into a festival
Where what it is, is not

Touch
(A Poem-Prose written by Martin Eden on 01April2009)

The heart falls into that silent place
A time of vulnerability
Stranger than day or night

It’s recognition and peace it wants
Those most craved emotions
But for the give and take

An anger dreams of better days
In its calmer solitude
Where universe enters and touches

And though the comfort feels unreal
It’s there to bring you round
Waiting for your decision

Naivete
(A Poem-Prose written by Martin Eden 07March2009)

There’s imbalance in the palace of fate
Where some come to sing and some to praise
While others wait

There’s a neophyte standing over there in the light
For obviuos to him he sees that it’s night
And never the drummer came to beat out the time

Though there’s space in the cave of neanderthal man
It remains now a choice for the solitude gained
Still he waits for the day

And so evil resurfaced from three months ago
When the time was right but for him it was wrong
And he took those pills to help him to sleep

And thereby the shyster who lies in unkindness
Missed by the calmness and missed by his karma
Arose from the company of money

And as the two were brought together by the third
It became evident that there’s no place to hide
From those that would do you harm

Mirrowed
(A Poem-Prose written by Martin Eden on 05March2009)

Mirrowed though they’ll never be
The twilight soon is coming
With slight of chance
Their lives lie close
In understanding

So what of ‘may’
In learning sown
Drawn close by inexperiences
Still closer by
Inner sharing

Intolerance fuelled the pain
In times of their unlearning
And near to heart the tears did fall
So’d passion grow to know
It’s calm

And thereupon
The silences spoke
A fondness so unknowing
And natures took their place in time
Unfurling

Sockets In The Shapes
(A Poem-Prose written by Martin Eden on 03 March 2009)

To the higher power in my taste
May I not be subject to derision
May it never smell of fate
Yet be iced in case

There may never be a better time
Where subjects run around in crime
Making obvious their deeds in doing
While objects abound to raise the spirit

Whoever feels the common shame
Must know that they are reeling
In these times of attribution
Hide they must, pursued by evolution

And I might try humility
Freed from all protection
Trusting what is yet to come
Is a taste for wit and learning

And those who drive
May come to know the journey
Where all evolves a tender spiral
Yet know not when, in ever vigil

That Clarion Call
(A Poem-Prose written by Martin Eden on 26 February 2009)

It is to him she came
Of her own volition
In that haze called love
In that state of not knowing

It was from her that he learnt
What he’d ought to have known
If not for the doubt instilled
If not for the time he’d spilled

The clarion call of independence
That day of joy bathed in sorrow
Fate had come through a revolving door
Which he had designed so long ago
While those who stood in wait had long gone
A voice kept calling forth the man
Unheard yet recognized from birth
Despite the noise of countless egos

And so she came like she’d done before
In a different guise
Yet so well known
With his life on a golden platter

Recognizing, he hesitated
Overwhelmed by the shadow of time
He stepped aside to plan ahead
But saw that it was happening
