Brief Overview of a Housing Crisis

ISSUES/CHARACTERISTIX

– interest rates rising to dampen demand (but also supply, paradoxically) … this is due to an overheated economy i.e. demand outstripping supply and threatening inflation (rising prices)

– shortages in supply in the rental market result in rising rents and government rent assistance goes straight into the pockets of landlords

– government initiatives to alleviate the impact of interest rate rises again go straight into the hands of business through increasing prices

THE VICIOUS CYCLE OF FISCAL EXPENDITURE AND MONETARY CONTROL

– increasing the stock of public housing for both purchase and rental to increase supply and reduce demand and therefore prices and rents respectively, contributes to lowering of interest rates, increased building approvals and increased economic growh and a return of inflationary pressures and the inevitable pressures on interest rate rises to control inflation

RESOLUTION/SOLUTION

– is an overall long term concerted focus on increasing the supply side resulting in net gains for the general populace and a stabilized housing sector of the economy (essentially, long term planning ahead)

– in tandem, infrastructure issues led by redevelopment of transport and decentralization of industry-business must be addressed to forestall the longstanding pressure on inner city housing stock and therefore intra-sectoral diversions/counter-productiveness

AFTERWORD

– interest = usury = non-productive reward

The Philosophy of Shit Happens

To me, what is inevitable is random, chance.

What comes, generally comes despite our occasional peripheral wins and ability to change things for the better. Shit Happens. The tendency of circularity seems overwhelming, deadly.

Still time marches forward in a linear way, ever distant from itz source, if there ever was one! And life is inevitable.

Materialism

Materialism is necessary for the soul that lingers in angst.? Itz furrowed brow counts the cost of itz love and sendz the bill ?unconditionally? while it hides in ?space?!

The money spills and ebbs and flows, forever a source of motivation, distraction really; more to buy, endless supply, and guns tend to rule the day.

The disquiet arises elsewhere and is media?d into evil, somehow different in a ?warped? way.? Meanwhile production churns away in the name of progress and hard work lighting our day.

Institutions, one and all, are paved in gold and status and symbol, even those religious.? No one ever quite gives up the quest of me and mine, though scraps are thrown and gestures are nicely coloured.

Existentialism

FOR OPENERS

Martin Eden haz had enuff of pushin d rock up d hill repeatedly to overcome d nuffingness of existence (i.e. existentialism), n haz chosen 2 have a choc wedge instead!!!

Mood: Went from ?naughty? to ?smart? to ?amused?

THEN A DAY LATER

Martin Eden iz leaning against d rock of existentialism basking in d sun of essence!!!

Mood: vital

OK, SO THIS IS THE WAY I SEE IT …

meaning is awareness
and awareness is meaning
essence is a kind of presence in the ?all?
existence is a past tense reflection on the process proceeding from essence which i call vital, or vitality
vitality comes from awareness, and awareness is meaning
awareness individuates from what is already joined in the ethereal which is vacuum that matter seeks to fill
but the vacuum grows as the distance between matter increases
the ?ether?, or ethereal, is the relationship between matter and vacuum
now it is important here to remember and restate that ?meaning is awareness and awareness is meaning?
and now we can go on to state that the ?relativity? of the two (matter and vacuum) is inherent in the variety and strength levels of the whole gamut of essence
it is also in a constant state of flux
existence is circular and historic
essence is linear and eternal, it is essentially ?inconsistent change?
consistent change leads to atrophy, death if you like
the meaning is in the question
essence is not about the approval of others, while existence invites it

Mood: amused

Leave Our Mark
(A Poem-Prose, perhaps a Song yet to be composed, written by Martin Eden 10January2008)

we are all desperate to leave our mark
we are all desperate to prolong our life
but what the sand doesn’t blow, erode, away
the sea will wash away

what say the problem lasts
we give them life after all
but what would we do if we had to live
… perhaps a creative surge

last time i looked into the treasure of my life
i found a gem to say ‘go live it’
but what if i make it … something of it
perhaps i need the question more

but what would we do if we had to live
… perhaps a creative surge

but what the sand doesn’t blow, erode, away
the sea will wash away

Woman
(A Poem-Prose written by Martin Eden 16January2008)

she reclines
to settle her thoughts
to mend her day

she seeks
that virginal moment
so swept away

she steps
into her shadows
betwixt her varied ways

she knows
no deeper challenge
than to share her life-force

no stranger day has come
than the one she lives today
where naked love abounds
merging tender places
vying primal realms
surging heightened senses
she finds that women’s place
her avalonic mist
where she must go to renew herself
rebuild and then return

the pull and ties of life await
as silken veils sweep over her nature self
the rush she feels begins to flow
she knows what she must do
emerge within to a new life
matriarchal, the font of essence
she’ll give it at her will
and if she must she’ll walk alone
for that little while
to reinforce the point she makes
which merges time forever
that one is one and all is one
and one shall rule one’s day

Sensual Allurement
(A Poem-Prose written by Martin Eden 20January2008)

the phone rang, disturbing our sunday peace
(with the usual message of guilt)
it’s been a long time since that sensual allurement
of the hillside rehearsal studio overlooking the sea
set on an acre beyond the gateway that could have been

i climbed that path to the secret arched doorway
the stairs, by candlelight, to the second landing
a room with a chess floor stage
with panoramic windows looking out to the sea

the people at the gothic table, my friends, all dead
my advisory panel chosen by my spirit
the dusty book with the ancient clef
and the lute, both sit in the otherwise empty bookcase by the stage

further up the path there’s the place where i met my dead father
where he let go, permitted my progress beyond him
at the top there’s the place of wonder, of a view of rolling afforested mountains
and the call from the south east, of destiny

the journey back to the place of birth
the family torn by petty jealousies
i walked ten miles through ‘friends’ who saw me coming
to the place where ‘i’ had been waiting

it seems one finds one’s truth too late
while the dream of hillside, of forest, of water
resides only in that place called ether
to which i long to return
